Casual Friday and Saturday at the Salon

It's getting soooo hot here now that jeans are nearly unbearable! So yesterday I opted for the jean skirt option, which is totally fine for my office, but I'm not sure how appropriate this would be for casual friday in other offices.

Hot & Cold

You may find yourself asking, "Why is Pink Julep's hair always in a ponytail these days?" Well, to answer that question, it's HOT! Really hot! All the time! So why am I wearing a cardigan you may ask? Because the air conditioning in my office resembles the temperature of the frozen tundra of the Arctic Circle! So today I have on a heavy and warm cardigan, but the yellow tee underneath is so light and airy it feels like wearing nearly nothing at all!

A close-up of my shoes, which sadly suffered an accident today... I scuffed them on the toe beyond repair! This saddens me deeply and to be honest, I'll probably still wear them for a while, but they just aren't the same anymore... bummer!

After work, hubby and I headed to Caymana Bay for some light shopping and a movie! You may find yourself asking "Why is Pink Julep suddenly dressed like Nanook of the North if it's so hot in Cayman?" Glad you asked! It's because the movie theatre here is FREEEEEEZING! It's so cold that if I have on flip flops, I bring socks in my purse!

A Gray Kind of Day

Flowing Florals Arent Just for Skirts!

With florals making a big splash this spring, I thought it only appropriate to bring out one of my favorite older pieces in my wardrobe! Who says you have to have on a sundress or a flouncy skirt to rock this trend? I bought this top at Express about 2 years ago, just before I moved to the island and I have loved it all this time! I also have it in black and grey! It's comfy, pretty and dresses up a normal slacks outfit.

Casual Sports Saturday

Hubby and I spent Saturday casually enjoying the sun, having lunch at our favorite sports bar, Legends and watching the Kentucky Derby and later the Mayweather/Mosley fight. It was a fun casual day with loads of excitement! I decided to keep it super casual since when we left the house, we weren't sure if we'd be outside or indoors... 8 hours later, I was happy about chosing something super comfy to wear!

I love wearing my hair in braids when I'm going casual and don't give a damn. It's cute, easy and doesn't require a blowout! And I'm a sucker for white shades - these were only 2.50 Euros! Below is a close-up of the scarf I tied around my head... love this scarf!

I bought this scarf on a whim. We have some friends on the island who opened a lingerie/swimwear store about 1 1/2 years ago. We went to visit them at the store to show our support and they opened a bottle of champagne, which was fun! They had me trying on every bra and pair of knickers in the joint, but honestly, they were all sooooo tiny with European hefty pricetags! Nearly everything over $200 CI (about USD $250) at the time! Yikes! Loads of lovely Dolce & Gabanna pieces, but since I was saving for the wedding, I certainly wasn't in the market for $80 panties, yet I felt like I SHOULD buy something! Luckily when I picked up this adorable silk scarf, it was only $20 and I've worn it religiously ever since! I just love polka dots and especially when they're black and white!

The Heat is On!

It's that time of year again when it's beginning to get SCORCHING HOT!!! The gossip on the island is that with humidity it "feels" like 120 degrees outside. I don't know if it's that hot, but it's definitely boiling outside. So I start thinking about ways to keep my hair off my neck and lighter, more breathable fabrics and all in all, just being as comfortable as I can in the heat.

Tuesday Blues

Hubby made a comment yesterday that since I got a Coach bag for Christmas, I should consider getting rid of my other bags! SHOCKING!!! So I showed him by changing my bag today and actually wearing some of the accessories he keeps urging me to get rid of! And I had fun doing something different with my hair, opting for messy waves, which I like and think I might do more often. Unfortunately, I was in such a rush to get out the door this morning that I didn't take much care with the photos so they're a little fuzzy and bright.


I love this bag that I got last year! It's a great big comfy bag that's perfect for adding a POP of color to an outfit!

Grey is the New Black!

Grey is the new black for me! I love love love grey! I have been experimenting lately with using grey instead of black to accessorize, as I did today! Next purchase needs to be a seriously amazing grey bag!!!

Ladylike Lace

Today's outfit was centered around a new cardigan I got. When I picked it up in the shop, I wasn't sure if it looked too French maid or too much like something my granny would wear to a funeral, but I'm so glad I took a chance and bought it. I love it and I think it's super ladylike and will be a versatile addition to my wardrobe. I'm excited to experiment with this cardi, but today I played it safe for the office.

I found a lot of great things in Ireland and on the whole, everything was so cheap! I really enjoyed the discounts and low prices! I discovered a shop called Penny's, which I understand is the Irish equivalent of Primark, a shop found in the UK. Everything is cute and super cheap! Can't beat that, especially for basics like leggings and tank tops!

Day to Night

Just before we left for vacation, we had some friends of friends visiting the island that we met for dinner. Scheduling and working late required me to work out a day-to-night outfit and here was my choice. I don't work in an office that requires me to be super conservative so I would agree that my choice might not be appropriate for every environment and to be honest, most of the time I wouldn't wear this outfit to my office, but nearly everything was packed. Still, I love this outfit... it's fun, a little edgy and comfy!

Casual Friday and Lazy Saturday

Yesterday I went to work for the last day of a very hard week! After pulling several late nights, I decided to keep it super casual, which is kind of okay at my office for me, though I still have to be chic about it since it is a professional environment and my boss is of the old school English suit and tie variety. I opted for a sparkly tee, jean skirt and sky high platforms! I put on the glasses to give my weary eyes a rest and appear more "serious" peering from behind my cubicle! I'll try to post a better photo of my new glasses soon. Speaking of which, please excuse the poor quality of the photos from my Blackberry while I try to figure out a way to get clearer pictures.

Today however is a totally different story! I am usually an early riser, even on the weekends. I rolled out of bed around 7:45 this morning. For me, that's sleeping in!!! On the weekends, I love to grab breakfast and caffeine in the coffee shop and I practically move in, bringing the essentials from my home office so I can catch up on reading blogs and posting.

Cayman is super conservative, especially Monday through Friday, but come Saturday, conservative wear becomes super casual and the beachy scene of the island comes out! This is pretty much my Saturday morning uniform and always with a messy ponytail!
