I bought these floral Jessica Simpson pumps about 2 years ago after seeing them in a magazine and falling in love with them! They continue to be my favorite shoes. I've noticed a huge trend in London while shopping... every store whether discount or high-end has scads of floral and patterned pump. I often see girls in the shops saying they won't spend the money on them because they're trendy or don't go with everything, but I think these shoes are much more versatile than you think!
A couple of easy tips to remember when wearing your floral pumps:
1. Start building your outfit from the ground up... that way you're chosing an outfit to go with your shoes, instead of leaving them in the closet getting dusty and claiming you've nothing to wear them with.
2. Solid basics and jeans are easiest to pair them with, but make sure the colors compliment each other and try to match your accessories to the colors on the shoes.
3. Be bold by wearing your floral or patterned shoes with another pattern! Start small by wearing a different patterned top with jeans & your floral shoes. It works best if one pattern is either neutral colors or a simple pattern in 2 colors that correspond with the shoes. Accessorize accordingly!
4. If the shoes are dainty like a floral strappy sandle or flats, then wear them with a skirt, a dress or skinny jeans so you can see them. If they are bolder like a platform closed toe pump, clogs or boots, you can wear them with flares or wide leg trousers and they'll be super cute peeping out.
Here's how I would wear some of the hot floral pumps I've seen lately:
1. Keep it simple!
By pairing jeans with a neutral top that resembles a t-shirt, but has a little fanicer cut, you create a blank canvas for bright, bold accessories! These shoes aren't floral - they're more graphiti, but the concept is the same. Top off this outfit with fun accessories that pick up the colors in the shoes and have fun! This outfit easily goes from casual brunch with a friend to a night out with your beau!
2. Rock it out!
These peeptoes are very pretty and ladylike, but they have an edgy feel to them. They are also for the most part highlighting 3 major colors: black, red and white. Mix them with black skinny jeans, a rock-n-roll t-shirt that picks up the three colors and some edgy jewelry. Play up the elegance of the shoe with a girly purse. Top it off with a cool cardigan or a jacket to make the look more sophisticated! I would wear this during the day or to something cool like an art opening, a concert, a fashion event or a night out in a club.
3. Mix patterns!
In the 2 previous styles, we've used multiple colors in the accessories, but be cause we're mixing patterns here, we need to tame it down a little so it's not too busy. I love mixing black and white stripes with florals! There's something very Parisian chic about it for me and I love it! Pair a black and white striped t-shirt with dark wash flared jeans and a pretty pink floral pair of pumps. Pick up the pink in the shoes with a scarf, some layered bracelets and a cute clutch! Avoid being too matchy matchy by wearing dangly silver earrings and mixing the silver and pink with a cocktail ring to tie it all together.
4. Dress it up!
Achieve this look with more sophistication by going a bit darker. Wear either black wide leg trousers or very dark wash flares with an embellished black top or blouse. Pair it with a darker floral pump like this pair from Next. Pick up the blue with a structured cobalt bag and a cocktail ring with a traditional blue stone. Add silver bangles and chandelier earrings to keep it polished. This look works for a casual friday in the office or even a dinner date!
